9/25/25: Full or part time Public Health Nurse
Central Connecticut Health District is seeking a part- or full- time Public Health Nurse. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated and able to work independently while also thriving in a team environment. They are creative, resourceful, and driven to make a meaningful impact in the community. This person looks for opportunities to build partnerships, create innovative programming, and expand services within our district. They are comfortable working with diverse populations, adaptable in dynamic situations, and committed to promoting health and wellness for all community members.
Public health nursing activities include, but are not limited to: reviewing public health data, providing health education and advocacy, administering vaccinations and screenings, collaborating with community partners to promote health and prevent disease in the community.
Additional Duties:
May be required to work occasional evening and weekends events and clinics
Key Responsibilities:
Clinic management:
Vaccine program management
Health screenings and follow-up
Tuberculosis case management
Infectious disease case follow-up and patient education
Other duties as assigned
Nursing volunteer management and education
Management and coordination of all standing orders and yearly contract with CCHD’s medical advisor
Health education program management
Occupational health management (bloodborne pathogens, etc)
Substance use disorder support and harm reduction services
Link community organizations and non-profits with district libraries, social services, youth programs, faith-based groups, and other partners to provide educational programming
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: $69,000/yr (full time)
37.5-hour work week (full time)

9/25/25: Full Time Recovery Coach (37.5 hR/Wk)
Recovery Coach
A Recovery Coach provides support to individuals struggling with a substance use disorder (SUD). This role requires proactive outreach in identified “hotspot” locations across the health district, as well as follow-up engagement with individuals and families affected by opioid overdoses.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator for individuals with substance use disorder, considering or in recovery, and their support system
Engage with clients in the community, encouraging them to:
Set and pursue goals related to sobriety
Prevent relapse and reduce harms associated with opioid use
Participate in recovery-oriented activities
Develop and strengthen networks of sober supports
Help clients identify, access, and navigate needed resources and recovery supports
Assist with community overdose education and naloxone trainings
Represent CCHD at community events, health fairs, and programs to promote services and educate the public about our mission
Attend required grant-specific meetings, conferences and events
Maintain appropriate documentation of services provided in accordance with CCHD policies
Minimum Requirements:
Ideal candidates will be in recovery from a substance use disorder; minimum two year of sustained sobriety required
High School graduate or equivalent
Completed training as a Recovery Coach or Recovery Support Specialist
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: $20/hr
37.5-hour work week
