Motels (Rooming Units)
Motels (Rooming Units) are inspected on an annual basis to ensure compliance with the District Sanitary Code. Inspections focus on general sanitary conditions, insect/rodent infestations and maintenance. The term "motel" includes motels, hotels, rooming houses and bed and breakfast operations. There are 45 motels in the district, most located on the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield, Newington and Berlin. Motels must obtain an annual license from the District to operate. Complaints concerning the operation or condition of a motel should be directed to the District Sanitarians.
