Day care facilities are inspected prior to opening and every two years thereafter to ensure compliance with the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Section 19a-79-1a thru 13. There are 49 day care facilities in the District. Inspections focus on safety, cleanliness, equipment and proper food service. The term "day care" refers to facilities with 7 or more children on a regular basis for a part of the twenty-four hours in one or more days in the week.
